Well, I still don't know what exactly is causing my email notifications not to work, other than (according to users at the MT support forum) it's related to upgrading to Movable Type 3.15. I've been unable to get any info on how I can fix it or when a new release is coming out. So, in the mean time I've come up with a work around. Since I'm still getting the notifications, I set up my email program at home to automatically forward them to my notification list.
Hopefully Six Apart will have a solution soon.
UPDATE: Well, it only took about 30 seconds to figure out the problems with that system.
First, in order to BCC the list (and not broadcast everyone's email address) I had to use an Outlook template. Well, that stripped all the relevant info about the post out, leaving a blank message.
Second, the rule could only be set up to reply with a template, which meant that I received another copy of the notice. That triggered a second reply to my list which I would have also gotten, triggering another reply ... I shut off the perpetual email machine before I annoyed the heck out of my faithful readers.
Sorry, I tried.
Maybe it's time to upgrade to Wordpress? For both of us? :)
Must resist the power of the dark side. :-)
WP does sound intriguing, but an upgrade sounds painful. I've put a fair amount of work into my templates and stuff. Well, probably not much work actually, but for a novice it seems like it.
You just need Scode to solve your spam problems before your site is stripped of all functionality. :-)
You forget that I no longer have spam comments--it's all trackbacks. Spam comments stopped a long time ago when I installed MT-Blacklist. Scode doesn't work for trackbacks--nothing does.
Yeah, I know. But don't you still get a notice that it was blocked or something? And I thought that MT-Blacklist did something for trackbacks as well.
There are some TB anti-spam plugins out there. The Scode guy has one that compares the link IP with the TB IP. If they don't match it blocks the TB. If I start getting more TB spam, I'm going to implement that and see how it works. Check out the plugins area at MT for others. One renames the TB script randomly.
I just figured I might as well stay consistent in telling you repeatedly to use Scode. I'll keep saying that and Justin can keep telling both of us to change to WordPress. :-P
